Mole Cricket Treatment
Mole Crickets and Lawn Damage
Mole crickets are underground pests that can cause extensive damage to your lawn. In early spring, these clawed pests emerge from the soil to lay eggs.
Once hatched, mole crickets tunnel through your lawn, disrupting plant growth by damaging their roots – this typically occurs in late summer through fall. Signs of an infestation include small tunnels, a spongy feel underfoot (that’s because of the tunneling), and an eventual browning and dying of grass, which typically occurs in patches.
Controlling Mole Crickets
If you suspect you have a mole cricket problem, mix one tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with one gallon of water. Then, soak the area of your lawn you suspect is inhabited by mole crickets. If mole crickets are indeed there, they will make their way to the surface as the soapy water soaks in.
Effective mole cricket control requires proactive treatment. By attacking them early, you can eliminate the existing adults and their eggs. We can help!
